PROBLEM
In the usual grocery shopping, people often wander through messy aisles, try to keep track of many items, and struggle to find fresh food. This process, filled with hassles and disappointments, often ends up making shopping a frustrating task.
TARGET USERS
Individuals who value convenience and efficiency in their shopping experience.
RESEARCH
We conduct grocery research in two ways. Firstly, we conduct user interviews and observations at Kroger, Red&White, and Chinatown Market. Secondly, we analyze the pros and cons of app functionalities at Target, Weee, Aldi, Amazon, and Walmart.
USER INTERVIEWS
We designed this interview questionnaire with the aim of understanding customers' shopping habits, assistive tools usage, and overall shopping experience.
Then we began by interviewing five customers and observed their behavioral patterns before proceeding with the interviews.
KEY INSIGHTS DERIVED FROM INTERVIEWS
According to the interview content, here are the key insights we have gathered.
Next, we carried out observations and gleaned insights from them.
OVERALL FINDINGS
After completing the interviews and observations, we conducted a synthesis and identified 3 key insights. These researches will help us in the next stage of persona development.
1. We need to find a solution to improve their aisle navigation and make their shopping experience
more efficient.
2. We need to develop a system or method to provide price information in real-time to assist these
shoppers in making informed choices.
3. We should explore strategies to help them set up and manage their purchases effectively while
maximizing the value of their shopping trips.
PERSONA DEVELOPMENT
In persona development, we categorize interviewees by role at the first step, pinpointing common characteristics and ensuring we can meet specific user requirements.
Then, we identify the behavioral and demographic variables of the interviewees, map them to variables, and then identify patterns to discover similar groups of individuals.
BUILDING PERSONA
In this crucial phase, we gather all available information and craft personas to define goals. Personas play a pivotal role in helping us understand user needs and characteristics, guiding our design process with a profound understanding of the users we aim to serve.
